11/25/2010

9 years ago on this date, something wonderful happened. I married my best friend. We've had lots of ups and downs over the past 9 years, but I'm glad to have had them all with Kevin.
Did you know that we have known each other since high school? 1995 seems so long ago these days. Kevin's been my best friend since then and he has always been there for me. I couldn't have fallen in love with a better man. :)

Kevin and me today
(Hopefully, I'll get a chance to scan one of our wedding pics and get that posted soon.)

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Hunt

Last weekend, I decided that instead of buying Lilith a dress she will only wear once or twice for Christmas, I'd just get her a shirt and a skirt or pants. I found. Really cute black satin top on clearance and an extra 25% off at The Children's Place. Problem is finding a skirt to go with it. Today, we searched all over town not finding anything. Ended up at JoAnn's looking at patterns. Found a cute one and fabric. Just need to go find black tule...they didn't have black! It should be really cute when it's done. Now, to find something for me before 12/11. I've told Kevin since 2007 (Lilith's first Christmas) that I want family pictures done. Today while we were at JC Penney's, he set up an appointment for 12/11. So, I need to find a tie for Kevin (he has a black shirt and pants), make the skirt for kiddo (got the shirt, black tights, and her black Mary Janes), and find a dress for me (I had my pretty red shoes or black ones or even a pair of boots, but will most likely wear my red shoes). Oh, and get hair cuts. Hopefully they turn out really good.

Anyway, I should get going. We borrowed my mom's big Christmas tree this year and kiddo wants to get it put up. We're having Thanksgiving here again, and I'd like to have things all decorated this year. Just need to get her toy area picked up and ready because it's going in that area in front of the big window. Pics soon!

Felt food...

...It's taking over my life again. LOL

I know I owe actual posts and pictures about our vacation and Halloween. But, I've been working on more felt food for Miss. Lilith. I'm trying to get some done for Christmas. I have other things to make for her and Miss. Evelyn (my niece), but 1 at a time. And it's been suggested that I make felt food to sell on Etsy. Problem is the time it takes. Who knows, maybe once I'm done with Christmas. You know, it's difficult to make and not just give it to kiddo, especially since she sees me working on it.

Anyway, it's time to get kiddo up from her rest. And it sucks because I think she actually fell asleep not too long ago. Oh well. Maybe I'll get some snuggles. I'll post soon.

I Love Lucy!

I Love Lucy
by Harold Adamson and Eliot Daniel

There's a certain couple that I know.
They're strictly lovebirds,
A pair of turtle dove birds.
He's a guy who wants the world to know.
So ev'ry day
You'll hear him say

I Love Lucy and she loves me,
We're as happy as two can be,
sometimes we quarrel but then again
How we love making up again.

Lucy kisses like no one can,
She's my missus and I'm her man;
And life is heaven you see
Cause I Love Lucy
Yes I Love Lucy
and Lucy loves me.

Did you know that "Job Switching" was one of Lucy's favorite episodes? It's one of mine, too. And when I was working at ADP, that's how I felt. Working in Production (especially in "the Dungeon"--where the stuffing machines were), it reminded me of Lucy working in the candy factory. Even more so on Tuesdays when we were super busy.

"I Love Lucy" is very speical to me. Kevin really does understand what it means to me, but teases me about it and can't undertand why I like it so much. You see, growing up, my Grandma Gregory (my mom's mom) used to take care of me while my mom worked. We'd watch TV together, but the one that we watched the most was Lucy. I still watch it and even Lilith likes it. :) I can't even tell you how many times I've seen each episode. I've even seen the only one they showed in color...it was a speical Christmas one and only showed the one time that I know of.

Anyway, my Grandma's name was Ruby. She passed away on 1/25/1999.

A couple of years ago, my mom, Lilith, and I went to the Northwest Quilt Expo like we do every year. I had found this pattern, Ruby In The Sky, and HAD to have it. After all, my Grandma's name was Ruby and she's up there watchcing over us. At the time, I wasn't sure what kind of fabric I would use...probably something with Roses since they were her favorite or blues (her favorite color).

A few months later, I came across the Chocolate Factory I Love Lucy fabrics and HAD to have them. It didn't take long to know what I was going to do with them....Ruby In The Sky. :)

It's taken awhile, but she is finally done. My mom helped quite a bit. Lilith helped, too. Lucy is very much loved. Lilith likes it quite a bit, too. :)

And, if you look closely enough (and know where to look), you can even see that I quilted "Lucy" a couple of times. There's even an "I Love Lucy" towards the bottom.
