I made this over the summer, but this was the first time it actually had gotten used.

Working with the fairies

Over the summer, I had made a lot of baby items for a friend of ours out of this fairy fabric. She loved all of it! Before Christmas, she asked if I could make her a stroller cover out if the same fabric. It's taken awhile to figure out (and for things to settle down around here), but I'm finally making it. I'm also going to make her something else since I have some extra. I would love to make her a bag or baby carrier, but not sure if she'd want one. Anyway, pics when it's done. There will probably be a post of just pictures soon. LOL

Pattern Weights

For awhile now, I've wanted some pattern weights. Some things just seem easier to cut out without pinning. But at $10 for 4, I just can't seem to buy them. So, I think I shall make some! Maybe this weekend. I saw this on CraftGossip this morning. And then I found a couple of other blogs about pattern weights. I think I may find myself at Home Depot later today. After all, giant washers seem to be the simplest ones to make.

Here are some other options.

The other must do for today: Find and order some pattern file boxes. JoAnn's has evidently quit selling them. The girl at the cutting counter had no idea what I was talking about and we couldn't find them at all! At least I know I can find them online.

*edit* I just found this. Aren't they cute?!?!

The internet is an evil place!

I say this quite a bit, especially on days when I find such cute things to make. And today was another of those days. You can tell when it's something I really want to make...I don't just bookmark it, I print it!

I just found this fabric paper doll tutorial. I'm not sure when I will actually get to make it for Miss Lilith, but I think she needs it! I loved playing with paper dolls when I was little. And I keep wanting to buy her some, I just can't find any. Next time I do, they're going in our shopping cart!

Here are just a few other things I want to make soon:
~ Bandana Quilt
~ Rag quilt letters. Especially since Lilith is determined to learn her ABC's right now!
~ A critter condo Miss Lilith has been asking for a home for Jilly.
~ Felt Potato Head I need to make about 4 of these!
~ And, of course, a Pettiskirt I got a ruffler foot for my sewing machine for Christmas just so I can make this.

I have some pictures to post later of things I've done this week and all the wonderful fabrics I've gotten to make ME clothes. Wednesday I worked in my sewing room and go it all in order again. My fabric all has a new home and I spent probably 2 hours winding ribbons and putting them in jars. So, keep an eye out for a new post and pictures soon!

Oh and in nonsewing news....My husband got a new job!!! It's still the same company, just a different department. A nice pay raise and he gets to work from home every day! He doesn't start until May 24th, though. We may be finding us a new home. And Disneyland may just get a special surprise visit from the Kelley's this summer! (We'll be down there in October for my cousin's wedding so we're planning a week long trip at Disney then, too.)

This weeks project

I'm feeling much better. My stomach isn't really hurting anymore and I'm not taking any pain pills. And today I finally got the last bit of tape/butterfly bandage off. I think it irritated my skin, too because my stomach is all dry and peeling. And it itches! It's so nice to shower and not worry about using Saran wrap and keeping it dry.

Anyway, this week I've been working on bags for my aunt. She decided that she liked my bag and asked me to make her one in each size (small, medium, and large). It's taken a week, but I just finished them tonight. Normally, I can get them done in a day or so, but i had to take lots of breaks. Here is a crappy iPhone pic. I'll post a better one later this weekend or next week. (Sorry it's sideways.)

My skirt

About a month ago, I found a really cute and simple skirt tutorial. (I'll post the link later.) So, I went out and bought some fabric. But, thanks to my stomach problems and surgery, it didn't get made. Last week or so once I was feeling better and able to sit and sew, I made it. It feels nice on my stomach, too. Just ignore the pieces of tape pokeing out above the skirt.

It's here!

A couple of weeks ago, an online friend, Skooks, posted about Quilts for Kids. They're working with Downy to provide 10,000 quilts to kids in hospitals. On their site you can volunteer and they will ship you a kit. I had requested mine and have been waiting for it to come. Well, the other night during dinner, the wonderful UPS man brought it. Here's the fabrics I get to work with.

I think I'll call the quilt "Puppy love." I started working on it last night. I'm going to try to get some more done before my DR appointment. I should have the top done probably by tomorrow night. Not sure when I'll get to quilt it, though.
