day 13- a letter to someone who has hurt you recently

Umm, yeah, haven't had anyone who has really hurt me recently. So, I'm not going to do this. :)

Day 12 of 30

day 12- how you found out about blogger and why you have one

I discovered blogger years ago. Not exactly sure when. I've probably had 1 or 2 blogs in the past. Anyway, I used to write at Open Diary all the time. And at some point, I got bored with it and looked to see what else was out there. I still have my Open Diary account...I've had it for 13 years now, maybe. But it's a private journal for just me and the few favorites I have there.

I have this blogger account now for our family. It's a way our family can keep up with what is going on in our lives and watch Lilith grow. I have another, but it's kind of like my Open Diary...just for me. :)

Days 9, 10, and 11 of 30

Weekends get so crazy for us. Some days, I don't even touch an actual computer. The main computer is hard to use because it's in the office and Kevin is almost always in there after work...especially now that school is back. This is his last term! Not looking forward to the 40-50page paper I'll have to read, but at least it's done 5 pages at a time. Anyway...

day 9- something youre proud of in the past few days

There has been a couple of things to have happened this week. First, I had already posted, but I finally put stuff up on Etsy. I need to get more up, but it's kind of crazy right now. I really need to hang pictures and shelves and what not. We have family coming in a week.

The other is I got Lucy done! Lucy is my quilt that I've been working on for awhile. I even used mom's Long Arm and quilted it and then learned how to do the binding. I'll take pics and post a blog entry about it later. I have to take it back from Lilith...she's stolen it. LOL

day 10- songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, hyped, mad

I used to be able to do this one better. But, things have changed over the years and it's a bit harder for me to actually list them. Most of the time I listen to Bon Jovi and 3 Doors Down. But when sewing and cleaning or just wanting to be silly with kiddo, I put on the soundtrack from Mama Mia. I can finally listen to this song without crying. It's taken awhile. I also still like the Ska bands from high school and Techno when I'm hyper.

Slipping Thru My Fingers from Mama Mia!

day 11- another picture of you and your friends

Seriously? I'm not going to do this again. If you really want to see what few friends I have, go to the other entry. I only have a couple of pictures and I put them all there!

And just because it's such a sweet picture...

I did it!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/HandmadePiecesOfMe

There isn't must up, yet. But I did it! I'll add more things over the next few days. Wish me luck!!!

Day 8 of 30

day 8- short term goals for this month and why

Well, August is almost over, but I'll just list somethings that need to be done by Labor Day. :) Grandma Shirley will be here on Labor Day then Rick and Patty get in that Wednesday. And Sunday the 12th, everyone will be here for dinner and cake for my Bday and my brother's Bday.

- Hang pictures
- Buy a frame for Lilith's "L" pictures
- Finish unpacking boxes
- Make some more clothes (I have 5 shirts, 3 maybe 4 dresses, and a pair of shorts) before our trip in October
- Do a major cleaning
- Go to a couple MOMS Club things (kinda slacked this past month)
- Post stuff on Etsy

Day 7 of 30

day 7- a picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you

IMG_3132

This was the night of Lilith's 3rd birthday party. She was such a sleepy little girl by the time everyone left.

Kevin and Lilith are my world. Everything I do, it's for them or because of them. I can't think of anything that would have a larger impact on me.

Day 6 of 30

day 6- favorite super hero and why

Umm, yeah. I don't do super heroes. I don't watch those kinds of movies really. And of the couple I have seen or know of, I don't have a favorite. So maybe this is really reaching, but I'll say Superman. And only because of a song...Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. You see, when Kevin and I were first dating, he sent me a file of a song and told me I had to listen to it. I loved it. I still do. I think of Kevin every time I hear it, too. :) Oh, and Kevin had a good laugh at me just now for my choice and reasoning. I told him, "I know...I'm pathetic. I'm a girl!" LOL

Here's a video of it. Also, the video game that's shown in this one is Kingdom Hearts. I love it! Ok, I love watching Kevin play it. It's a Disney game, too. :)

Day 5 of 30

day 5- a picture of somewhere youve been to

I could post a lot of pics for this, but I think I'm just going to pic one...my favorite. :)

Japan

I took this! This was somewhere in Kyoto, Japan. We went to Japan for 10 days in April 2006. I can't wait to go back.

Ok, I lied...here are a couple more from that trip. :)

IMG_8591

The castle from Tokyo Disney. Can't wait to go back and take Lilith. We need to go to the other Disney park there, too. It was too wet and windy when we went. We even left early.

IMG_8053

The famous intersection in Tokyo, Japan. They show it all over the place. We were there several times that trip...the train stop we used was there.

Day 4 of 30

day 4- a habit that you wish you didn’t have

A habit I wish I didn't have? Hmmm. I don't know. There are a lot of things that I wish I could change. But I guess the TV is a bad habit. It's on all the time, but I don't always just watch it...it's just background noise. Like right now, I have last week's Project Runway on, but I'm barely paying any attention to it.

I pop my knuckles a lot, but I don't really think it's something I need to stop. Not sure if I could, either. I've done it for so long now, I just do it without thinking about it.

Anyway, if I keep listing things I'd like to change, it isn't going to make me feel too good about myself. LOL So, I'll stop with that. The TV could be turned off more...and I am trying. The days I sew, it's off and the iPod is on, so that's a good thing, right?

Day 3 of 30

OK, I suck. Our weekend was super busy and I realized last night that I hadn't done this. Yesterday, we got up and left and didn't get home until after 7 last night. Then when we got home, I had to clean up the kitchen and get Lilith to bed. We watched Big Brother and went to bed. So, now you're getting 3 days today. :)

day 3- a picture of you and your friends

When I first saw this, I thought "Oh great!" I don't really have that many friends. But, Kevin and I were talking about it last night and he reminded me that I do have more friends then I thought. :)

Family 052

First, my best friend...my husband, Kevin. Lilith's my friend, too. :) Kevin and I have known each other for 15 years now. We met in high school.

Family 133

Next is my baby brother. He'll be 25 in just a few weeks.

IMG_2237

This is Tamara and her son, Andy, at Lilith's 2nd birthday party (2009). Sorry, it's the best picture I could find. We were neighbors in Wilsonville and my first friend up here. I miss her! They moved just before we did and now we're about an hour away and haven't been able to meet up. :(

_MG_3624

This is Dannie and her daughter, Elizabeth. (2007) She was Kevin's friend first, but we have grown closer over the years...even though we haven't really "met." LOL We did once, years ago at Kevin's graduation party. She's also Lilith's godmother.

100_0290

This is Calla and her daughter, Dorothy. Sorry again...this is the best picture I have. Dorothy is about 8 months older then Lilith. Calla was also Kevin's friend first. :)

_MG_5151

I love this picture!!! This is Richard, Kevin's best friend. They have known each other since preschool. And I'm very happy to have him in our lives. He is Lilith's Godfather, too. This was during our vacation in 2008. We stopped in San Francisco to visit him. We get to see him when we go down in October. He'll be in Highland when we get down there. He's being inducted into our high school's Hall of Fame. :)

Day 2 of 30

day 2- the meaning behind you blog name

Our blog name is The Kelley's because it's about our family....The Kelley's: Kevin, Dawn, and Lilith Kelley. :)

The URL is our names. And Lilith's Mommy is because, well, I'm Lilith's mommy.

I know, not very creative, but it works.

Family 052
And this is us. :)

Day 1 of 30

Like I posted here, I'm doing this 30 day challenge that Sweetwater found. :)

day 1- recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

IMG_4119

This is from yesterday's dentist appointment. Watching Lilith get her teeth cleaned. :)

1. I'm afraid of actually posting things on Etsy. That's why it's taking me so long.
2. I've always wanted to be a stay at home mom.
3. My mom taught me to sew, but I have figured out a lot of it by myself thanks to the wonderful (or sometimes evil) internet.
4. I don't like scary movies. I won't even watch most of them, but there are a couple that I have watched and liked. (Thirteen Ghosts and Stir of Echoes)
5. I watch Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, Fact or Faked even though sometimes my mind gets carried away and I scare myself
6. I have actually seen a ghost...my grandpa.
7. I don't believe in the same things as everyone else does, and that's ok with me. I just wish everyone else could see it the way I do.
8. I once read that we are made out of stardust. It's a wonderful thought, isn't it? I'm made out of a star. :)
9. I was once described as a hippy. I guess I sort of am.
10. I do not intend on going back to school once Lilith is older.
11. I still have my baby doll that my grandma Gregory gave me when I was little.
12. I can't cook, but I can bake. :)
13. I may be almost 31, but 1 of my 2 favorite places is Disneyland.
14. We move a lot and I'm ok with that right now. We just haven't found the right spot.
15. I really want an old Mustang. Like from the '60s. I just don't like how the newer ones look.

Busy, busy

It's been busy around here. And it's not going to slow down any time soon. Maybe once October gets here, but then we'll be on the road heading our way down to CA. I have 3 weeks until my father in law and his girlfriend are here for a week. So, I have a lot to do around here until then. We need to finish unpacking the last few boxes, hang pictures, print and frame some new pictures, and I'll need to do a major cleaning by then, too. Then there's my sister in law's (Kevin's sister) wedding that weekend, my birthday, the Northwest Quilt Show, and then we leave for CA. Plus, I've been sewing. I have things to post on Etsy. I just need to take pictures and post them. I just told my husband a little bit ago that I need to just do it and not be afraid. My sister in law messaged me earlier for some info on the pettiskirt. One of her patients was asking about it. So, keep your fingers crossed. :)

Right now, I'm working on some clothes for me. I have about 5 tops I'm planning on making before October. We'll be spending almost 2 weeks at Disneyland, so they will be nice to have. I have some dresses and a pair of shorts I'd like to make, too, but we'll see how things go. I have also been working on Lucy (my quilt made out of "I Love Lucy" fabrics). There's a story behind it, but I'll post it when I post pics of the quilt. I might actually get it all finished this weekend.

Today, Lilith and I had dentist appointments. It's a good thing my mom came with because Lilith's ended up being at the same time as mine. (Her's was scheduled for after mine, but someone canceled.) I wasn't too happy about it and cried, but my hygienist was nice and waited so I could be with Lilith for part of it. Lilith did awesome this year! Last year was just a "happy visit" and the most the did was count her teeth. She did not want to open her mouth. But this year she got x-rays and a full cleaning. She did so good with all of it! And she does not like the bubble gum flavor stuff. LOL Dr. Ulmer said that Lilith's teeth are the best he's seen in awhile. You have no idea how happy that made me. We try really hard because we both remember what it was like growing up and neither of us like going to the dentist. I don't want it to be like that for her. There's no signs of any cavities. But, she does have a slight overbite (just like her daddy) and will probably need braces when she's older. And for those that care, my teeth are doing really good, too. I think this is the second year in a row that I don't have anything wrong. I do have one spot on my gum that's irritated, but he said to just keep doing what I'm doing. So, us girls are good until next summer. Kevin goes next Tuesday bright and early (7am!) so we will see what Dr. Ulmer says about him.

Anyway, my headache is finally going away (thank you Excedrin Migraine!) so I should probably work on this top that's sitting here waiting patiently. :)

Here is a decent picture of Lilith and her pettiskirt and my niece, Evelyn. This was taken on July 31st, my parent's 28th anniversary.

Oh, and just 44 days until we leave!!! Can't wait!!!
