Field trip!

Today we had a field trip with MOMS Club to the fire station. We had gone when Lilith was about 18 months up with the Wilsonville MOMS Club, but she was too little to really enjoy it. I thought she'd have fun today, but I think I may have been wrong. She spent half the time in my arms. The other half she kept close to me or behind my legs. I kept trying to coax her to go look at things. She wanted absolutely nothing to do with the one fireman once he got in his gear. She high tailed it to behind my legs. I tried to get her to go give him a high five like the other kids, but she stood behind me and said, "NO!" Oh well. Maybe next time. :) She did like that they had 4 refrigerators. Thought that was silly because we only have 1.

I did get some pics of her with the fire engine. :)

Christmas 2010

We were very excited for Christmas this year. Lilith had lots of things she wanted and we had a lot we wanted to get her. So, she was a very loved little girl! LOL I didn't have anything to open, but I did get my Kitchen Aid mixer, new cookie sheets and cooling racks, new measuring cups and spoons, and some new clothes. Kevin got a lot of bugs, a meat thermometer/timer, and glass water bottles. Lilith decided that she wanted to stay at our house Christmas Eve night so that Santa knew where she was at, but take all her presents to Grams and Papa's house to open with every one. Thursday, I baked! I made 3 batches of Oat cookies (the no-bake ones), a batch of chocolate chip (use the recipe from Williams-Sonoma), and a batch of Kiss cookies (the recipe I have is different from the ones I've seen and it's a double batch). We spent part of the day of Christmas Eve at mom and dad's. We left at 8 so that Lilith had time to get cookies and milk sat out before bed. And also hang out Magic Key up outside by our door and sprinkle Magic Reindeer Food in the yard. Of course, she fell asleep on the way home, but she woke up to get ready for Santa. :) However, she didn't get back to sleep until after we were in bed. We kept telling her that she had to get to sleep because Santa couldn't come until she went to sleep. Christmas morning we woke up around 715...mommy and daddy shouldn't be up before kiddo on Christmas! But, we were. I started making breakfast while Kevin showered. Kevin's tradition: Puffy Baked German Pancakes. However, they didn't turn out this year. :( Good thing mom had doughnut balls waiting. Kevin ended up having to wake Lilith up and she wasn't budging. Once he said "Santa came and left you presents!", she was up and running to the tree. LOL She looked so sleepy while she was opening her stocking stuffers. We let her open 1 gift before breakfast...her "purse." I wrapped it so the handles were sticking out. But it wasn't just a purse...it was the bag for her Explorer and it was inside. That, itself, was a pain to get! Only Toys R Us has the pink one and they wanted $75! Leapfrog.com was sold out. I just happened to look at TRU's website the Friday before Christmas and they had them on sale for $55. I got Lilith and myself ready and headed down to the other side of town to TRU and grabbed it. And this was after we decided to wait and get her some other things to replace it.

Santa brought Miss Lilith her Princess Aurora doll. And she was very happy about it. :) But the best reaction to all of her gifts was the one when she opened her Explorer games. We got her Mr. Pencil and Tangled. She was literally jumping up and down on her knees and squealing! She was so excited! We have no idea why she's been so obsessed with Tangled and she hadn't even seen it (we finally took her to see it Sunday afternoon). I wish we had gotten it on video. If I hadn't already gotten Tinkerbell party stuff, I would change her birthday to Tangled. I have a feeling that we may be buying her a Tangled costume among other things over this next year. LOL And she knows her name is Rapunzel, but still calls her Tangled. LOL After seeing the movie, she asked if she could get a Tangled doll from the Disney store. Thin is, the closest Disney store is at Washington Square or Clackamas....about an hour away. So, whenever we make it up there, we will go look for a Tangled doll.

Anyway, here are some pics of our Christmas.

I bought Lilith and Evie matching outfits. Aren't they cute? The shirt says "Spending time with you is the greatest thing to do"
IMG_5422

They also got matching Minnie shirts and sweatshirts that say "You are my sunshine." That's what they are sung. My grandpa used to sing it to my mom, my mom sang it to me, and I sing it to Lilith every night. Veronica sings it to Evie, too.

And I was going to post a couple of videos, but IE keeps dying when I try. :-/

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Handmade Christmas

I actually got a handful of things made for Christmas this year. My niece, Evie, got 2 pairs of Leggies (Baby Legs), a round taggie toy, and a doll. Lilith got a matching doll, but with darker hair and a baby carrier. I was so excited for the baby carrier. I had been wanting to make one for Lilith for awhile now. However, I couldn't find any real tutorial, so I made up my own. I searched Etsy and the rest of the web for some for sale to get some ideas on sizes. And I used buckles in stead of tying it or velcro. I just may make some to put on my Etsy store. :)

So, here it is!

Here's Lilith's doll. The girls are making such wonderful faces, but it's the best pic of the doll. Evie's has lighter brown hair. They're Black Apple Dolls. I found the pattern on Martha Stewart's site. And I will NOT be making any more. I had problems.

IMG_5318

And here is Evie with her taggie toy. I put bells in it, too so that that it would make noise. She LOVES tags and ribbons right now. (And that's my brother, Shawn, and his wife, Veronica.)

11/25/2010

9 years ago on this date, something wonderful happened. I married my best friend. We've had lots of ups and downs over the past 9 years, but I'm glad to have had them all with Kevin.
Did you know that we have known each other since high school? 1995 seems so long ago these days. Kevin's been my best friend since then and he has always been there for me. I couldn't have fallen in love with a better man. :)

Kevin and me today
(Hopefully, I'll get a chance to scan one of our wedding pics and get that posted soon.)

The 3 of us
Happy Thanksgiving!

The Hunt

Last weekend, I decided that instead of buying Lilith a dress she will only wear once or twice for Christmas, I'd just get her a shirt and a skirt or pants. I found. Really cute black satin top on clearance and an extra 25% off at The Children's Place. Problem is finding a skirt to go with it. Today, we searched all over town not finding anything. Ended up at JoAnn's looking at patterns. Found a cute one and fabric. Just need to go find black tule...they didn't have black! It should be really cute when it's done. Now, to find something for me before 12/11. I've told Kevin since 2007 (Lilith's first Christmas) that I want family pictures done. Today while we were at JC Penney's, he set up an appointment for 12/11. So, I need to find a tie for Kevin (he has a black shirt and pants), make the skirt for kiddo (got the shirt, black tights, and her black Mary Janes), and find a dress for me (I had my pretty red shoes or black ones or even a pair of boots, but will most likely wear my red shoes). Oh, and get hair cuts. Hopefully they turn out really good.

Anyway, I should get going. We borrowed my mom's big Christmas tree this year and kiddo wants to get it put up. We're having Thanksgiving here again, and I'd like to have things all decorated this year. Just need to get her toy area picked up and ready because it's going in that area in front of the big window. Pics soon!

Felt food...

...It's taking over my life again. LOL

I know I owe actual posts and pictures about our vacation and Halloween. But, I've been working on more felt food for Miss. Lilith. I'm trying to get some done for Christmas. I have other things to make for her and Miss. Evelyn (my niece), but 1 at a time. And it's been suggested that I make felt food to sell on Etsy. Problem is the time it takes. Who knows, maybe once I'm done with Christmas. You know, it's difficult to make and not just give it to kiddo, especially since she sees me working on it.

Anyway, it's time to get kiddo up from her rest. And it sucks because I think she actually fell asleep not too long ago. Oh well. Maybe I'll get some snuggles. I'll post soon.

I Love Lucy!

I Love Lucy
by Harold Adamson and Eliot Daniel

There's a certain couple that I know.
They're strictly lovebirds,
A pair of turtle dove birds.
He's a guy who wants the world to know.
So ev'ry day
You'll hear him say

I Love Lucy and she loves me,
We're as happy as two can be,
sometimes we quarrel but then again
How we love making up again.

Lucy kisses like no one can,
She's my missus and I'm her man;
And life is heaven you see
Cause I Love Lucy
Yes I Love Lucy
and Lucy loves me.

Did you know that "Job Switching" was one of Lucy's favorite episodes? It's one of mine, too. And when I was working at ADP, that's how I felt. Working in Production (especially in "the Dungeon"--where the stuffing machines were), it reminded me of Lucy working in the candy factory. Even more so on Tuesdays when we were super busy.

"I Love Lucy" is very speical to me. Kevin really does understand what it means to me, but teases me about it and can't undertand why I like it so much. You see, growing up, my Grandma Gregory (my mom's mom) used to take care of me while my mom worked. We'd watch TV together, but the one that we watched the most was Lucy. I still watch it and even Lilith likes it. :) I can't even tell you how many times I've seen each episode. I've even seen the only one they showed in color...it was a speical Christmas one and only showed the one time that I know of.

Anyway, my Grandma's name was Ruby. She passed away on 1/25/1999.

A couple of years ago, my mom, Lilith, and I went to the Northwest Quilt Expo like we do every year. I had found this pattern, Ruby In The Sky, and HAD to have it. After all, my Grandma's name was Ruby and she's up there watchcing over us. At the time, I wasn't sure what kind of fabric I would use...probably something with Roses since they were her favorite or blues (her favorite color).

A few months later, I came across the Chocolate Factory I Love Lucy fabrics and HAD to have them. It didn't take long to know what I was going to do with them....Ruby In The Sky. :)

It's taken awhile, but she is finally done. My mom helped quite a bit. Lilith helped, too. Lucy is very much loved. Lilith likes it quite a bit, too. :)

IMG_4858

IMG_4859

IMG_4861

And, if you look closely enough (and know where to look), you can even see that I quilted "Lucy" a couple of times. There's even an "I Love Lucy" towards the bottom.

Guess what?!?!

It's that time of year!
"What do you want for Christmas?"
"What does Lilith want or need for Christmas or her birthday?"

Well, thanks to Toys R Us, that's gotten just a bit easier to answer this year. Lilith and I sat down and created a Wish List for her. (If the link doesn't work, just search for Me.) Also, she's still in 4T, but I starting to buy 5T. And her shoe size is a 9. Most everything on the list can be found at Target, too. And just a head's up...we are planning on getting her the Leapster Explorer, the charging station, and the Mr. Pencil game. She's also asking Santa for the Disney Princess and Me doll. And PLEASE no SpongeBob, Dora the Explorer, or Go Diego Go things.

Oh, she would also like an Our Generation doll and accessories from Target. They're similar to the American Girl dolls, but cheaper. I would love to get her an American Girl doll, but they're like $100! So the one from Target will work just as well. LOL

As for Kevin and me, that's another story. I guess we can set up a Wish List on Amazon. We may have to work on that later. :) I'll update later with those links.

Anyway, that's all for now. Back to Kevin's paper.

We are here and alive

I actually do have things and pictures to post...

But the pictures aren't up on Flickr, yet. And we've been either busy or lazy around here. I have been so tired! I have a DR appointment on Wednesday and I'm going to ask him about it. I have a nice long list to take with me. I should probably write it down instead of keeping it in my head. I think I may have come up with a reason as to why my Platelet count was so high in 2008-2009 when we had it checked out...my Appendix. I guess we will see if my theory is right later this week. They didn't know how long it had been leaking, so maybe.

Anyway, I promise a better entry with adorable pictures is coming, just not tonight. Kevin's in Chicago for work, it's bed time for kiddo, I have a 65 page paper to check by tomorrow night (while working on kiddo's costume), and I'm tired!

I don't know anymore. I thought that it would get me to write here more, but life got in the way and I didn't have much time to do these. Plus, there were some that I just had problems doing. Maybe I'll just try to post something every day or so.

Her name is Lilith and she's perfect as is!!!

First off, my daughter's name is Lilith, not Lithil. If you can't remember it or say it, call her Lily. I can't promise that she'll answer to it, but it's better then Lithil!

Secondly, her speech is just fine! Stop correcting her! Lilith is only 3.5! She will learn how to say things correctly as she gets older. And I happen to like how she says certain things. Main one being I love you...it's "Ya ya too." I hope she never stops.

Third, yes she is spoiled, but that's OK! There is a difference between being spoiled because she is loved and being a spoiled rotten brat. She IS NOT a spoiled rotten brat. She doesn't throw fits in the middle of the store because she can't have something. She just says "ok, maybe next time." She is our only child and we can spoil her as much as we want. I was spoiled growing up and I turned out just fine!

Fourth, no she does not have perfect manners. Once again, she is only 3.5. We feel that she has rather good manners for her age. She's still learning.

And finally, she does not have too many clothes! Yes there is a lot, but she wears most of them. And it's not just 1 season's worth of clothes...it's all of them. Plus, I still need to go thru them and pull out things that are small. It hasn't been done since February.

My child is perfect as is. Please stop trying to change her! And please call her by her correct name, not what you think it is.

Just a note: It's been a long week already and my father in law and his girl friend aren't even here, yet! October 1st is just 23 days away! We need a vacation!

Days 16-20 of 30

It's crazy around here right now. I've been busy cleaning, hanging pictures, laundry, and shopping over the past weekend. Yesterday morning, Kevin had to go pick Grandma Shirley up from the airport. She's staying with us until Thursday morning and then is heading to Heidi's for the rest of her trip. Thursday morning, we switch her for Rick and Patty (Kevin's dad and his girlfriend). They go home next Wednesday. Our plans have sort of changed. We were supposed to go to Seaside Thursday, but it's supposed to be in the 50's and windy there that day. And we dropped the trip to the zoo because the price has gone up. With 4 adults, 1 child, and parking you can imagine. Anyway, I've gotten a lot done around here and yesterday I was able to just sew. I got a dress made. Just need to put the hook and eye on it. I have fabric waiting to be pinned and cut out for another top. I only have 24 days until our CA/Disney trip so I need to get these done. I have a pair of shorts I want to make, but it's going to wait until my mom gets back from her vacation so that I can have her help. I haven't made any kind of pants or shorts so the zipper and pockets kind of are confusing me.

Anyway, on to the days I have missed.

day 16- another picture of yourself
This is kind of old, but I like it. :) It was taken 2 days before Lilith was born.
_MG_1788

day 17- someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why
I'm not sure. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at now.

day 18- plans/dreams/goals you have
Well, I've already gotten Etsy going, but I need to get some more things up on it. I'm afraid to get more things made since nothing has been sold, yet. I know I've just gotten going and that I just need to give it some time.

We'd like to travel some more. I can't wait to go back to Japan.

Hopefully, we will get Lilith into Dance once we're back from our vacation (or the beginning of the year).

And we really need to work on preschool type things.

Not sure what else right now.

day 19- nicknames you have and why you have them
My family calls me Dupa or Du. My aunt started calling me that when I was little. Supposedly it means "Little one" in French. I've also been told that it means "ass" in french, too. LOL Other then that, Kevin calls me his sweet angel princess and the usual lovely-dovey things.

day 20- someone you see yourself marrying or being with in the future
Well, I've married Kevin and I couldn't imagine being with anyone else. We have known each other since high school...15 years ago now. We've been together for 10 years and married for 9 years in November. He's my best friend and I'm glad to have him in my life.

I got a few more things posted this evening on Etsy. Check it out. Share it with your friends!

Day 13 of 30

day 13- a letter to someone who has hurt you recently

Umm, yeah, haven't had anyone who has really hurt me recently. So, I'm not going to do this. :)

Day 12 of 30

day 12- how you found out about blogger and why you have one

I discovered blogger years ago. Not exactly sure when. I've probably had 1 or 2 blogs in the past. Anyway, I used to write at Open Diary all the time. And at some point, I got bored with it and looked to see what else was out there. I still have my Open Diary account...I've had it for 13 years now, maybe. But it's a private journal for just me and the few favorites I have there.

I have this blogger account now for our family. It's a way our family can keep up with what is going on in our lives and watch Lilith grow. I have another, but it's kind of like my Open Diary...just for me. :)

Days 9, 10, and 11 of 30

Weekends get so crazy for us. Some days, I don't even touch an actual computer. The main computer is hard to use because it's in the office and Kevin is almost always in there after work...especially now that school is back. This is his last term! Not looking forward to the 40-50page paper I'll have to read, but at least it's done 5 pages at a time. Anyway...

day 9- something youre proud of in the past few days

There has been a couple of things to have happened this week. First, I had already posted, but I finally put stuff up on Etsy. I need to get more up, but it's kind of crazy right now. I really need to hang pictures and shelves and what not. We have family coming in a week.

The other is I got Lucy done! Lucy is my quilt that I've been working on for awhile. I even used mom's Long Arm and quilted it and then learned how to do the binding. I'll take pics and post a blog entry about it later. I have to take it back from Lilith...she's stolen it. LOL

day 10- songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, hyped, mad

I used to be able to do this one better. But, things have changed over the years and it's a bit harder for me to actually list them. Most of the time I listen to Bon Jovi and 3 Doors Down. But when sewing and cleaning or just wanting to be silly with kiddo, I put on the soundtrack from Mama Mia. I can finally listen to this song without crying. It's taken awhile. I also still like the Ska bands from high school and Techno when I'm hyper.

Slipping Thru My Fingers from Mama Mia!

day 11- another picture of you and your friends

Seriously? I'm not going to do this again. If you really want to see what few friends I have, go to the other entry. I only have a couple of pictures and I put them all there!

And just because it's such a sweet picture...

I did it!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/HandmadePiecesOfMe

There isn't must up, yet. But I did it! I'll add more things over the next few days. Wish me luck!!!

Day 8 of 30

day 8- short term goals for this month and why

Well, August is almost over, but I'll just list somethings that need to be done by Labor Day. :) Grandma Shirley will be here on Labor Day then Rick and Patty get in that Wednesday. And Sunday the 12th, everyone will be here for dinner and cake for my Bday and my brother's Bday.

- Hang pictures
- Buy a frame for Lilith's "L" pictures
- Finish unpacking boxes
- Make some more clothes (I have 5 shirts, 3 maybe 4 dresses, and a pair of shorts) before our trip in October
- Do a major cleaning
- Go to a couple MOMS Club things (kinda slacked this past month)
- Post stuff on Etsy

Day 7 of 30

day 7- a picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you

IMG_3132

This was the night of Lilith's 3rd birthday party. She was such a sleepy little girl by the time everyone left.

Kevin and Lilith are my world. Everything I do, it's for them or because of them. I can't think of anything that would have a larger impact on me.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Day 6 of 30

day 6- favorite super hero and why

Umm, yeah. I don't do super heroes. I don't watch those kinds of movies really. And of the couple I have seen or know of, I don't have a favorite. So maybe this is really reaching, but I'll say Superman. And only because of a song...Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. You see, when Kevin and I were first dating, he sent me a file of a song and told me I had to listen to it. I loved it. I still do. I think of Kevin every time I hear it, too. :) Oh, and Kevin had a good laugh at me just now for my choice and reasoning. I told him, "I know...I'm pathetic. I'm a girl!" LOL

Here's a video of it. Also, the video game that's shown in this one is Kingdom Hearts. I love it! Ok, I love watching Kevin play it. It's a Disney game, too. :)

Monday, August 23, 2010

Day 5 of 30

day 5- a picture of somewhere youve been to

I could post a lot of pics for this, but I think I'm just going to pic one...my favorite. :)

Japan

I took this! This was somewhere in Kyoto, Japan. We went to Japan for 10 days in April 2006. I can't wait to go back.

Ok, I lied...here are a couple more from that trip. :)

IMG_8591

The castle from Tokyo Disney. Can't wait to go back and take Lilith. We need to go to the other Disney park there, too. It was too wet and windy when we went. We even left early.

IMG_8053

The famous intersection in Tokyo, Japan. They show it all over the place. We were there several times that trip...the train stop we used was there.

Day 4 of 30

day 4- a habit that you wish you didn’t have

A habit I wish I didn't have? Hmmm. I don't know. There are a lot of things that I wish I could change. But I guess the TV is a bad habit. It's on all the time, but I don't always just watch it...it's just background noise. Like right now, I have last week's Project Runway on, but I'm barely paying any attention to it.

I pop my knuckles a lot, but I don't really think it's something I need to stop. Not sure if I could, either. I've done it for so long now, I just do it without thinking about it.

Anyway, if I keep listing things I'd like to change, it isn't going to make me feel too good about myself. LOL So, I'll stop with that. The TV could be turned off more...and I am trying. The days I sew, it's off and the iPod is on, so that's a good thing, right?

Day 3 of 30

OK, I suck. Our weekend was super busy and I realized last night that I hadn't done this. Yesterday, we got up and left and didn't get home until after 7 last night. Then when we got home, I had to clean up the kitchen and get Lilith to bed. We watched Big Brother and went to bed. So, now you're getting 3 days today. :)

day 3- a picture of you and your friends

When I first saw this, I thought "Oh great!" I don't really have that many friends. But, Kevin and I were talking about it last night and he reminded me that I do have more friends then I thought. :)

Family 052

First, my best friend...my husband, Kevin. Lilith's my friend, too. :) Kevin and I have known each other for 15 years now. We met in high school.

Family 133

Next is my baby brother. He'll be 25 in just a few weeks.

This is Tamara and her son, Andy, at Lilith's 2nd birthday party (2009). Sorry, it's the best picture I could find. We were neighbors in Wilsonville and my first friend up here. I miss her! They moved just before we did and now we're about an hour away and haven't been able to meet up. :(

This is Dannie and her daughter, Elizabeth. (2007) She was Kevin's friend first, but we have grown closer over the years...even though we haven't really "met." LOL We did once, years ago at Kevin's graduation party. She's also Lilith's godmother.

This is Calla and her daughter, Dorothy. Sorry again...this is the best picture I have. Dorothy is about 8 months older then Lilith. Calla was also Kevin's friend first. :)

I love this picture!!! This is Richard, Kevin's best friend. They have known each other since preschool. And I'm very happy to have him in our lives. He is Lilith's Godfather, too. This was during our vacation in 2008. We stopped in San Francisco to visit him. We get to see him when we go down in October. He'll be in Highland when we get down there. He's being inducted into our high school's Hall of Fame. :)
